A mammoth is any species of the extinct elephantid genus Mammuthus. The various species of mammoth were commonly equipped with long, curved tusks and, in northern species, a covering of long hair. Recent research of sediments in Alaska indicates mammoths survived on the American mainland until 10,000 years ago.
This listing is for a partial mammoth tooth, a really fine specimen where you can still see some of the roots and both the enamel and surrounding fossil material has a gorgeous brown patina.
